Fort Worth Personal Trainer: The Secret Class Bias Against Strength Training (VIDEO)
Fort Worth Personal Trainer: The Secret Class Bias Against Strength Training (VIDEO)
What do you think of when you hearweightlifting or strength training?
Bodybuilders, Powerlifters, Dudes walking around with a gallon jug of water, dirty gyms, working class laborers.
What do you see in your mind when you think of triathlons, marathons, cycling?
Lean and slender, GPS watches, expensive equipment, travel, attorneys, physicians, executives.
It’s NOT your imagination that there’s a class divide and a bias against strength training.
For the past 20 years we’ve made great progress getting people to do resistance training.
But there’s still stigma attached to resistance training ans getting stronger (even for thew sake of your health and longevity) and it runs deep in our culture.
So how do you navigate that and get the best of both worlds?

The VAST majority of research and medical advice you’ll hear about exercise and the brain involves aerobic based exercise (think jogging, elliptical, bike).
This research released last year stood the exercise science community on it’s head.
Proving the vast majority of protection and repair exercise gives to cognitive function comes not from aerobic training but from…..

Fort Worth Personal Trainer: We’re MOVING! Here’s where we’re going! (VIDEO)
Fort Worth Personal Trainer: We’re MOVING! Here’s where we’re going! (VIDEO)
Hey I want you to know we’re moving at the end of this week!
NOT FAR THOUGH! Just a couple blocks away.
First some background.
5 years ago when I lost my lease to my space on 7th and Montgomery Robin and Glory Thomas were kind enough to throw me a life preserver and let me sub lease space from them at Inursha.
Well it’s time for the next step.
The building we’re currently in has been sold so on Dec 1st we’ll be moving to a NEW and LARGER space in a working partnership with Inursha Fitness.
The new location is just off University at 2927 Shamrock Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76107 – only .9 miles (3 min) north of our current location.
Maps and printed directions will be available at the gym on Monday.
The new building has a total of 7200 square feet, so it is 2200 square feet larger and features:
It’s larger and set up with the future of coaching in mind.
This will give us the space to grow our Accelerator Personal Training, Rapid Results Boot Camp, Fitlean, and Fit over 50 Project.
What you’ll get:
A more open flow on the gym floor!
An open turf room for body weight exercises, sport specific exercises, and our year-round boot camp!
A dedicated space for group coaching!
The Trinity River trail is right out our back door so you can choose to run on the outdoor trail or on an indoor treadmill!
(No more dodging traffic!)
A new parking lot that will make your trip to the gym safe, quick and convenient!
Our current location on Bailey Avenue has been sold, and will close at 7:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2017, and we will remain closed through Saturday, December 2nd to move the equipment.
I look forward to seeing you at our new location on Shamrock Avenue on Monday, December 4, 2017, when we get back to our normal hours of operation.
Thank you for your support that’s made this growth possible and I look forward to seeing you in the new facility.

Fort Worth Personal Training: Quick Tip-The #1 Fatal Mistake You Can Make With Your Exercise Program (VIDEO)
Fort Worth Personal Training: Quick Tip-The #1 Fatal Mistake You Can Make With Your Exercise Program (VIDEO)
What’s the ONE thing you can do that’s fatal 100% of the time to clients progress?
“Taking a break”
This bullshit excuse to reinforce the quitting habit has been the fatal error for more people than all the Krispy Creme donuts and Ho-Ho’s in history.
It’s fatal to results 100% of the time.
And the reason we DO NOT have a pause button in our programs.
Because LIFE is going to happen.
And it’s MESSY.
You’re going to get sick, have injuries, sick kids, holidays, divorces, weddings, business travel, overtime….
And the list goes on and on and on.
BUT..It’s NO excuse to quit.
You learn by training THROUGH these periods how to manage these challenges in the future.
Exercise delivers REAL RESULTSonly through CONSISTENCY overtime.
And if you keep starting and stopping (training only whenit’s easy and convenient) you’ll NEVER make progress.
It’s by training THROUGH these times, you develop and reinforce the “showing up” habit.
And this is the #1 Habit you want to develop.
So when you start getting squeezed by life events and you start thinking of “takinga break” slap yourself andthink “How can I make this work, just for right now”
Because you can and will find a way to work through it and this develops those MOST IMPORTANT showing up skills.

Fort Worth Personal Training: When Someone Attempts to Sabotage You….Do This (VIDEO)
Fort Worth Personal Training: When Someone Attempts to Sabotage You….Do This (VIDEO)
We all have well meaning but misguided people in our lives that for good or bad aren’t really “on-board” with us wanting to get more out of our lives.
There’s nothing more frustrating than having your workouts and healthy eating derailed.
So many things are beyond your control. Illness, injury, kids schedules, spouses expectations, traffic, work travel, vacations the list goes on and on.
This includes the well meaning person, friend, coworker, family member that doesn’t “get it”.
For lack of a better word I’m going to use the Toxic Person.
It doesn’t mean they’re “bad” just painfully unaware of how bad you want it.
The toxic persons desire is to persuade you to do something other than workout or make a healthy food choice.
They may be doing it maliciously, to keep you right where you’re at.
Or it could be completely innocent.
Either way you need a way to neutralize them without creating more problems.
For example:
They just don’t get how you can really want to skip happy hour and go to the gym! How boring!
So how do you beat the toxic person at their own game and not burn a bridge or hurt their feelings.
Here are 3 phrases you can use to neutralize toxic people.
1) I’m Not Interested.
When someone on the phone or in person is trying to persuade me to skip a workout entirely or change my schedule up.
I know the worst thing I can do is explain in logical terms why I can’t do that.
So you simply say..“I’m Not Interested”.
You should try it. Don’t even offer a reason you’re not interested. No one knows why some things hold interest for others. That’s not your problem.
I’ve been using this phrase for years. To stay on track.
2) I Don’t Do That.
Another good persuasion sentence is “I don’t do that”.
It’s not even really a reason!
But, it sure sounds like one.
Like if someone brings in one of those diabetes starter kits in the form of a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. And then starts to give you the pressure to get your sugar high with them.
I simply say “I don’t do Krispy Kreme”.
And if anyone asks I kick in “I’m just not interested”.
Sometimes you have to give a toxic person the one-two verbal punch. And that’s OK too.
3) I Have a Rule.
This is my FAVORITE. No one has ever questioned it.
You’re trying to get out of the door at the office to make a 5:30 workout and someone is holding you up and wonders why you won’t do happy hour.
You say “I have a rule that I always go to the gym on Thursdays”
It will sound convincing while remaining polite, while offering no reason whatsoever.
So now you have 3 strong persuasive phrases to neutralize toxic people in your life.
Use them in good health.
Talk soon.

Fort Worth Personal Trainers: Monday Quick Tip-You’re NOT Getting any Younger! (VIDEO)
Fort Worth Personal Trainers: Monday Quick Tip-You’re NOT Getting any Younger! (VIDEO)
“You could just as easily change your life today as any other day. You don’t need to wait for January first.”
-Dan Kennedy
Yesterday I was doing a consult with a potential client..
She wanted to lose about 35lbs.
Get out a 14/16 and get back into a 10.
While reducing her mid-section(she said “I’ve never had a problem with belly fat until the last few years”) And drop overall body fat while toning and tightening her entire body..
These are pretty straight forward goals for a woman in her mid-forties and the problems with her mid-section are super common..
I then asked her with all these goals and the number of years it took to get to this point,..
Why now?
She said “I’m not getting any younger”
And I thought she has a good point.
We’re NOT getting any younger.
Sometimes I think we may forget that we don’t have an infinite number of days left on this earth.
And you could take that if you’re out-of-shape and say”Well why would I want to spend my limited time here in the gym” and you’d be missing the point.
When you’re getting into shape or are in shape you’re able to add more life to your years…
You really are making a choice about your future with your decisions today.
You’re not getting any younger.
When you don’t feel good physically from carrying 35 extra pounds and you’re tired and your feet hurt and the list goes on and on..You don’t want to do as much. And you don’t get as much done.
Are you going down the road of taking 3, 6 or a dozen medications every morning. Having trouble moving from house to car to your house again?
When you do eat well and exercise regularly all kinds of time multipliers and enhancers occur.
You feel better, so you appreciate each experience more fully.
Your future looks brighter because it IS brighter. You’ll have the energy and ability to take the opportunities to travel, to move, to do new things.
You have more energy so you get up earlier, do more and can stay up a little later and not feel the effects.
You can chase your kids or grand kids across the yard and not get winded.
The day with them leaves you tired but not irritable and exhausted.
It’s a win..Better health less illness look better feel better….
All kinds of benefits that off-set the tiny (30min 2-3Xweek) investment of time getting into shape.
You gotta think about it we aren’t getting any younger.
So as the saying goes…
Add more years to your life and life to your years!
Talk soon.
