Before we go off the rail here.
This is NOT meant to be a political post.
When people ask me what my “beliefs are”
I tell them I believe in a healthy diet and exercising a LOT.
And I believe they should do “5 more”
If this election has thrown you off physically and emotionally I understand.
No matter what candidate you supported..
Here are a few lessons we can pick up from this entire process and apply to our fat loss and fitness programs.
1) Be Prepared for the Unexpected
If you were told 5 years ago a reality TV star would be the President would you have believed them?
Heck no.
Each step of progress for President-Elect Trump were most often completely unexpected.
No one believed it could be done.
Therefore a lot of people this week weren’t really prepared for this series of events.
So you’ve got to be prepared for the unexpected.
For fat loss and fitness that means a little forward thinking of “what if”
What if I get stuck in the airport with no good food choices? I’ll pack some protein bars and fruit just in case.
What if I get a lot of pressure from Aunt Suzy to take home leftovers at Thanksgiving? I’ll just tell her I want her to keep them and take as break from cooking because this was a great Holiday.
What if I there’s no gym while I’m traveling? I’ll plan ahead and have a quick 30min bodyweight workout to follow.
Prepare for the unexpected. It may not make the reality of your situation better, but it can take the edge off.
2) You’re Going to Encounter Resistance
The resistance will quite often come from some of the kindest, most caring, closest people you know.
And just like you had people trying (sometimes violently) to change your opinion on your political choice.
You’ll have people close to you, especially during the Holiday season, not happy you won’t eat this or that and that you’re sticking close to your exercise routine.
You have to stand strong to your convictions to get the results you want. ALL YEAR LONG.
Remember ONLY YOU can determine what’s the best choice for you.
And if that means getting up at 5am to get your workout, who’s to tell you it’s wrong.
And if that means saying no to seconds of your Aunts mashed potatoes. Then say no.
It’s your right to determine the right choice for YOU.
3) You’ve Got to Have a Good Support system.
Unlike most Presidents during the modern era President-Elect Trump has never held a political officer not as a Congressman, or a Senator, or even a city councilman.
He’s going to need a great support team to advise, guide and support him as President.
Just as you need a good team of like minded people to advise, guide and support you in your weight loss and fitness goals.
The who that he chooses to support him can make or break him.
You should be just as serious as the President when choosing who you let into your life.
Do they agree with your goals. Do they have experience helping people like you. Are you speaking and meeting with people daily that are on your team, and your side, and looking out for your best interests.
The WHO will make or break you too.
Like I said I stay out of politics and this was a circus. But there are always lessons we can pull from difficult situations.
