16-Week Training Program
Cowtown Marathon Weekend
February 29-March 1, 2020
RACE DISTANCES:
Marathon, 26.2 miles (Sunday, March 1)
Half Marathon, 13.1 miles (Sunday, March 1)
4-Person Marathon Relay, 6.2-6.8 miles per leg (Sunday, March 1)
10k, 6.2 miles (Saturday, February 29)
5k, 3.1 miles (Saturday, February 29)

THE BODY FIRM MARATHON TRAINING PROGRAM
Training Program Kickoff–Informational meetup, easy run, meet and greet: Saturday, November 9, 2019, 8am at The Body Firm
Weekly group runs: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6am (various locations)
Each week, registrants will receive a two-week training program for YOUR chosen race distance; to cover current and next week (so you always know what’s ahead).
Group runs will take place along portions of the Cowtown race course to gain familiarity with the course route and terrain. NO SURPRISES!
You will be included in our training program Facebook group, where we will communicate, motivate, and encourage one another along this 16-week journey.
We also have a private club on the fitness-tracking app, Strava, to track training sessions and progress.
We’d LOVE to have a team (or two) in the RELAY (4 per team), so get your friends involved and work together in a marathon relay team!!!
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Walk, Jog, Walk/Jog, Run—Whether your goal is to FINISH or to just get back into running, this program is TAILOR MADE FOR YOU!

FAQ’s
DO I HAVE TO ALREADY BE A RUNNER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS TRAINING PROGRAM?
No, this 16-week training program is specifically designed for those who do not have an established running habit, or those who have enjoyed running in the past but have not been consistent in a while.
This is a “newbie” training program, open to beginners!
WHAT GEAR WILL I NEED?
We suggest having two pairs of running sneakers, so you can alternate wear for the sake of your joint and body health, but one pair of sneakers will do just fine.
You will also need a headlamp ($5 at Walmart, also found in sporting goods stores and online), as we will often be training in some level of darkness due to the season.
Otherwise, whatever clothing is comfortable for you to run and walk in suits this group just fine.
