Fort Worth Personal Training: One Simple Trick to Improve Your Habits (3X Your Success)
I like to make it clear to my new clients that the goal in the first few weeks of training isn’t to build the exercise habit.
The workout isn’t really that important.
What we are REALLY doing is building the Showing Up Habit.
That’s THE HABIT you want (MUST!) build in from the very beginning of your program.
Without the SHOWING UP habit, where you’re inconsistent or just drop out of your exercise program altogether, you’ll never make progress.
SHOWING UP in the beginning and consistently there after is the Master Key to fat loss and fitness success.
And you can literally TRIPLE your chances of showing up by doing this one tiny little thing.
And Australian Study on habit formation recently revealed this one simple trick.
A study was conducted with 3 Groups implementing a new training habit.
The 3 groups were divided evenly and given a different task to perform.
Group 1. Was told to track exercises
Group 2. Told them to track exercise and were also given a motivational video to watch to show and remind them why they should exercise.
Group 3. Were given the same tasks as Group 1 and 2, plus they had to write the sentence below, and say exactly, when-where-how they were going to exercise.
The implementation sentence-
“During the next week, I will partake in at least 20 minutes of vigorous exercise on [Day] at [Time of Day] at/in [Place].”
What happened between the 3 groups?
Group 1: 38% exercised over the next 2 weeks.
Group 2: 35% exercises over the next 2 weeks
Group 3: 91% exercised over the next 2 weeks.
Group 2 were essentially motivated more than Group 1, but it didn’t change a thing.
Group 3 TRIPLED their rate of success with one simple action.
Motivation is great but that alone,simply knowing why doesn’t change the outcome much at all.
But the true take away lesson from all this is…
If something is important to you, then schedule it.
Pick a date. Choose a place. Give your goals a time and a space to live.
Do this, and you 3X your chances of successfully implementing your new habit.
